Suspects begin to ‘talk’ in brutal murder of Nicosia prison inmate case

Some of the 11 arrested men suspected to be involved in the brutal murder of an inmate in Nicosia central prisons 10 days ago have begun ‘talking’, according to Philenews.

Dead is 41-year-old Turkish Cypriot drug dealer Tansu Cidan’s who was bludgeoned with blunt objects by other inmates. All 11 remanded suspects are also inmates.

Insiders said those who started ‘talking’ point the finger at a Turkish origin inmate with others being his accomplice.

At the same time, 10 prison guards have also been suspended following the brutal murder which could have been avoided.

Cidan had been arrested in April for drugs possession with intent to sell.

He was serving a long-term sentence for various criminal activities, including eight years for possession of a significant quantity of narcotics.

Police are still waiting for the results of genetic material tests or other scientific evidence from wooden or metal beams collected from the scene of the crime.  The results will help them link suspects to them.

The state coroner has already ruled that the death Cidan resulted from multiple injuries to his body.
