Suspect for murder handed over to T/C authorities

Republic of Cyprus police have handed over a Turkish Cypriot man wanted in Turkish held north Cyprus for the murder of businessman Goghan Naim.

The Turkish Cypriot co-chair of the bicommunal technical committee on crime Haki Onen said that the suspect had been handed over through UNFICYP a little after noon on Friday.

Onen said that all the information about the suspect had been given to Republic of Cyprus police who arrested him at Larnaca Airport.

He was convicted of using a forged document, served his time and was yesterday handed over stand trial for murder.

Onen said Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci has been following the case closely.

Meanwhile, Miroslav Balazocek, who was wanted by Republic of Cyprus police for attempted murder and had fled to the north was handed over on July 28 having first served his sentenced for illegal possession of a fireman.
