Some 200 personal physicians to be administering vaccines to those aged 30 and above

Relevant News

Some 200 personal physicians in Cyprus have joined hands with the government and will be administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to those aged 30 and above in a bid to speed up the national vaccination process.

Up until Thursday, 27.9% of the population had been vaccinated with the first dose of a jab, Philenews reported on Friday.

At the same time, the Health Ministry has sent out a letter to the Cyprus Medical Association informing that General Health Scheme (Gesy) personal and specialist doctors could express interest in staffing Vaccination Centres all across Cyprus on a voluntary basis during afternoon hours.

Vaccinations by personal doctors will be performed in parallel with the operation of vaccination centres.

And those wanting any other vaccine than Astrazeneca have to follow the standard procedure through the portal and adhere to age groups.

After weeks of reluctancy, people seem to have started to see that vaccinations are the only way out of the pandemic.

Although initially experiencing technical problems, the vaccination portal on Thursday was flooded with  appointments from people aged 39-40.

The initial supply of vaccines ran out within a few hours, and the Ministry had to supply additional ones.
