Some 10,000 beds are now registered by landlords who want to rent out their property in Cyprus for short-term rent on the popular platform of Airbnb.

The deadline for the required registration in the Register of Self-Service Accommodation Establishments of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, expires on February 7, 2023, Philenews reported on Monday.

Applications can be submitted by both individuals and legal entities, according to Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios.

He also said: “So far, 2,000 accommodations corresponding to 10,000 beds have been registered with the number expected to increase even more as we approach the end of the deadline available to those directly concerned.”

He added: “Those who do not register in our Registry will not be able to legally offer their properties for rent, nor to advertise them.

The submission of applications for registration in the register is only done online by individuals and legal entities,” he added.

Before applying for registration of housing in the register of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, the applicant must have:

Registration with the tax department (tax identification number or VAT, if provided by the relevant legislation) of the Republic of Cyprus.

Valid home insurance, at least against fires and natural disasters.
