Six people — four adults and two children — were rescued from a small boat off Larnaca on Thursday.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre said that it had received notification of people in danger on a small boat southeast of Larnaca.
It activated the Nearchos scheme, sending a coastguard boat, a lifeboat from Larnaca Airport and a police helicopter to the area.
The six people were brought to safety and the relevant state services alerted, the JRCC added.
They were then taken to the temporary shelter at Kokkinotrimithia.
