The Police proceeded with the arrest of three persons to facilitate investigations into a case of illegal possession of the property. However, incidents occurred during the arrest, since the policemen had to pursue the vehicle with the three from Limassol to Larnaca. Furthermore, warning shots were fired while the three-person and two policemen were injured.
Around noon today, the Police received a tip that suspicious persons had been stealing autocatalysts from vehicles in an area of Limassol. Members of the Police went there but the moment they were seen, a car with no license plates picked up speed and tried to escape, colliding with the police vehicle.
The policemen followed the car also firing warning shots. Finally, they managed to stop the car at the Rizoelia roundabout in Larnaca.
The car was searched and various tools and two autocatalysts were found. The driver and two passengers of the car did not provide satisfactory explanations so they were arrested.
Members of the Limassol CID are investigating the case.
