A very shallow magnitude 4.0 earthquake was reported early morning on Thursday near coastal Paphos.
The quake hit at 2:33 am local time at a very shallow depth of 2 km, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
Moderate shaking was mostly felt in Choletria which is located 1 kilometre from the epicenter.
Weak shaking was also felt in Konia, Yeroskipou, Emba, Chlorakas and Kissonerga.
