Search for missing woman in fifth day

The search for Eleni Plakides entered its fifth day on Monday, with a police helicopter reinforcing efforts on the ground to find her.

The 69 year old has been missing from her home in Argakas since Thursday evening when she stepped out to go to a nearby kiosk.

The search has widened to a large part of the Akamas peninsula after her car was found in the Blue Lagoon area on Friday afternoon. The car appeared to have become stuck in the mud and was locked.

Also taking part in the search are police officers from Paphos police HQ and local police stations, the civil defence, officers from the game fund and the forestry department as well as friends and relatives of the 69 year old who is a German married to a Cypriot and has been living in the area for many years.

Police on Friday appealed for the public’s help to find the missing woman.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Polis Chrysochous police station on telephone 26806280. Alternatively they can contact the closest police station, or telephone the emergency numbers 112 and 199 or  the citizens hot line on 1460.
