Monday’s re-opening of schools after the Christmas break comes amid concern that sending children back to class will only add fuel to a record number of coronavirus infections.
The fear of parents is shared by teachers’ unions but any decisions for additional measures will be taken by Cabinet when it meets on Wednesday.
