Troops from 2 Mercian are preparing for violent clashes, in case there is a major disturbance.
In one scenario, 2 Mercian are set the challenge of restoring order, while their colleagues in C Company play the part of the rioters, armed with potatoes in the place of bricks.
“We’re here to calm down the crowds, separate them and allow them to go back to their normal routine without any civil unrest,” Company Commander, Major Mike Brigham told forces.net.
The exercise goes on most of the day, with the troops put through a variety of different situations.
