“Safe pass” system to be replaced with “green pass” in six to eight weeks

Relevant News

The Mediterranean island’s new coronavirus “safe pass” system which came in effect on Monday so as to allow people to move freely will be valid for an estimated six to eight weeks.

This is what deputy minister for innovation Kyriacos Kokkinos told state radio on Monday, adding that this will be replaced with a green-pass which is to be valid throughout Europe and other countries.

Cyprus on Monday exited a third partial lockdown and first step is the digitization of the  “safe pass” which is expected to be done in about eight to ten days.

Until then, people have to present either a vaccination certificate, or proof that they have been diagnosed and treated with the coronavirus, or have a recent negative rapid antigen test.

Kokkinos also said the European Union expects the green-pass to be ready for all member state nationals by end of June or beginning of July.
