Betting shops reopen on Saturday, but new rules will bring a number of changes for staff and customers, including compulsory masks for employees and no chairs for clients.

Requirements include signs regarding distancing rules (two metres), provision of disinfectant and compliance of the one person per 8 square metres rule to avoid crowding.

Coupons will be handed out to clients — with one client at a time for each transaction — and there will be no coupons at stands within the betting shop.

The coupons will be handed over/stamped with the take-away procedure.

Employees who come into contact with clients must wear a mask and be behind plexiglass that must be cleaned frequently. Employees must strictly comply with hand washing rules and must change mask if it gets wet.

There will be no chairs inside.

Management must ensure there is access to thermometers, surgical masks, single use gloves etc.

There are strict rules as regards cleaning and disinfecting, particularly of high touch surfaces, as well as regards ventilation.

It also sets out rules in the event an employees tests positive for coronavirus.
