Paphos police have made two arrests in connection with a robbery that occurred outside a bakery in Ayios Dhonetios in Nicosia at midday today.
Robbers had pounced on a courier collecting the weekend takings from the bakery, threatened him with a cleaver, taken the money and fled.
Police said that members of its rapid response unit (MMAD) had stopped a taxi at Kouklia. Three people got out and attempted to run off. Two were arrested and police are looking for the third.
In the taxi, police found cash and are checking to establish whether it is the money taken from the courier.
Police had launched a hunt for the robbers and were looking at CCTV from the area.
