The nine communities near Vasiliko on Monday morning closed all roads leading to the local energy centre to protest the recent government decision to move two asphalt plants to the area.
The road closure began at 08:00 and will end at 09:30 local time, according to Philenews.
This follows a series of protests by locals in response to an announcement by the attorney general’s office confirming the relocation to Kalavasos within two to three months.
The nine communities are: Kalavasos, Pentakomo, Asgata, Mari, Tochni, Zygi, Maroni, Psematismenos and Chirokitia.
