Neophytos Neophytou, community leader of Prodromos urged drivers to exercise extreme care after heavy rains and hail caused havoc in his mountain village. He said the heavy rains have been falling since midday, adding that there was fog, mud and rock slides on the roads. Neophytou said that the adverse weather has wiped out agricultural production.
In its weather report for Wednesday, the Met Office said clouds would develop after noon, leading to local rain and/or storms, particularly in the mountain areas. It said that hail was likely. Temperatures would rise to 31 degree C inland, 28 in the east and southern coastal areas, 26 in remaining coastal areas and 21 in the mountains.
