Road update: Problems continue because of bad weather

Several roads are still closed or are open only to cars with four wheel drive because of the bad weather, according to the latest police update,

They said that in the Paphos district the Amargeti-Kelekedara-Nata road is closed because of flooding of the Ziripilli river and the Galataria-Salamiou road closed because of flooding of the Xeros river. Tselefos bridge is closed for the sixth consecutive day.

The Prodromos-Troodos road is closed to all vehicles. The Akrounta-Dierona road which had closed because of mudslides and rock falls has been cleared and is now open.

The following roads are open only to four wheel drive cars and those equipped with snow chains: Platres-Troodos, Karvounas-Troodos, Ayios Theodoros-Papaotsa Zoopigis-Ayios Theodoros, Agros-Palechori, Chandria-Kyperounta-Karvounas, Pedoulas-Prodromos,  Pedoulas-Pinewood-Kakopetria, Prodromos-Lemythou, Prodromos-Trooditissa-Platres, Kakopetria-Karvounas, Kykkos-Kambou, Polystipos-Chandria, Polystipos-Madari, Palechori-Askas-Fterikoudi-Alona-Platanistassa, Alona-Polystipos-Lagoudera and Lagoudera-Xyliatou.

The following roads are slippery: Pedoulas-Moutoullas, Pedoulas-Kykkos and Pedoulas-Lemythou,

The following roads have been cleared of rock and mudslides: Paramytha-Yerasa, Yerasa-Kalo Chorio and Ayios Ioannis-Agros.

Moreover, because of heavy rain a section of the main Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road, some 2 km outside Stroumbi towards Yiolou has receded. The section has been signposted.

Police said that the road network is dangerous because of rain or ice in many areas and drivers are urged to be particularly careful.

Drivers are being cautioned to drive slowly and to keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
