In a joint letter to deputies, the President of the Cyprus Institute and the director of the Agricultural Research Institute expressed their strong reaction to the government’s intention to construct a road traversing the national Park of Athalassa. The two officials noted that such a road will cause irreparable damage to the environment and destruction to the ecosystem since thousands of vehicles will be going through the forest.
Moreover, the two officials pointed out that the road will have an impact on the operation of the two Institutes and will cause several problems, like issues of security and noise.
