A moderate magnitude quake of 4.9 on the Richter scale hit Cyprus at 4:40 in the morning on Friday morning.
The quake was 22 km southeast of coastal Larnaca and was felt by many people in the area. It has not caused significant damage.
It occurred at a shallow depth of 45 km beneath the epicenter, according to the Mediterranean island’s Seismological Centre.
