Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantelas on Tuesday meets the scientists advising the government on Covid-19 and the focus is the protection of hospitals but not at the cost of physical presence at schools.
Final decisions will be taken on Wednesday when the Cabinet is set to meet, according to Philenews.
Hadjipantelas is expected to submit his own proposals and at the same time ask the opinionn of the health experts on whether or not stricter restrictions should be put in place imminently.
In terms of education and after Monday’s first day back to school after the Christmas break and counting the high number of absent students and teachers authorities went on red alert.
The Ministries of Health and Education are now looking for ways in which schools remain in operation and avoid – for the third consecutive school year – to implement e-learning.
Insiders also said the Ministry of Health is oriented towards the introduction in Cyprus of the institution of “test to stay”, that is, a test to keep the student or teacher at school.
