New Covid measures to be discussed on Monday between Health Minister, scientists

The Health Minister on Monday afternoon will discuss possible additional measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus in Cyprus with scientists advising the government on the deadly virus.

And Cabinet will take final decisions on Wednesday, according to Philenews.

Additional measures under review include face masks to be worn by primary school children as well. Along with restriction of freedom of unvaccinated citizens in a bid to prevent a catholic lockdown.

Insiders said proposed new measures by the scientists focusing on schools are: a) mandatory use of a mask in primary education, B) increased rapid tests, C) Suspension of Christmas events C) cancellation of other events related to students/teachers.

In addition, the health team’s specific measures for unvaccinated citizens will affect everyday life and freedoms they enjoy today. Including non-entrance to closed spaces such as recreation centers, football stadiums and theater venues.

Other proposed measures expected to be discussed are the suspension of Christmas events, self-testing, teleworking, restriction of people in gatherings, and the implementation of targeted tests on both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.
