Courts all across Cyprus are raising their security level and after the X-ray machines and metal detection arches to soon be in operation in all of them private security guards are the next step.
On Tuesday, the Judicial Service-Supreme Court opened a tender concerning increased secuirty of court buildings island-wide.
The terms of the tender have been published on the website of the Electronic eProcurement System and the deadline for interest to be submitted is September 8, 12:00 p.m.
The tender concerns district courts in all cities but also covers specialized ones located in Nicosia – such as the Labour Dispute one.
The winning company will have to provide the 24-hour security of the courts and maintain the safety of property as well as the archive of cases and the documents accompanying them.
Upgrading the security of the court buildings was deemed necessary after the recent case of theft of evidence from the Limassol District Court and a fire at a court room in the Nicosia District Court.
