Primary education, kindergarten students back to school on Monday

The Mediterranean island’s students of public elementary, kindergarten and special schools on Monday go back to class after the summer holidays.

The Education Ministry has announced that the 2022-2023 academic year will see 50,038 students in primary schools, 12,803 in public kindergartens and 537 in special schools.

All teachers started work a week ago to make the necessary preparations.

At the same time, the Transport Ministry on Monday introduces a school bus for primary school students on a pilot basis to ease traffic chaos.

The new programme is implemented on a pilot basis for six months in several primary schools from urban, tourist and remote areas.

The school bus will pick up children from their home and take them to school in the morning and will also transport them back to their homes upon completion of classes. , the minister explained.

The aim is to implement the programme for all primary schools in Cyprus from September 2023.
