President Nicos Anastasiades issued on Saturday a video message via Twitter to mark Europe Day on May 9.
“We celebrate Europe Day at a time when we are unfortunately faced with an invisible enemy. What is now required is for Europe to be visible in order to respond to citizen’s expectations. It is that direction that we are working towards and I am certain that we will achieve better days,” he wrote.

Today we celebrate Europe Day. We celebrate it while facing, as it was rightly said, an invisible enemy. What is required is for Europe to be visible. This is how we can honour this day and this is how we can meet the expectations of European citizens. I am sure that we are all working towards this direction and we will achieve better days.
