President Christodoulides sets new administration’s modus operandi

Relevant News

Newly-elected Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides’ main message on Wednesday to his just sworn-in Cabinet members was: “Raise the bar high over and keep your tones low”.

Christodoulides, who was elected President of Cyprus having secured 51,92% of the votes in the second round of the elections on February 12, also warned that there was no grace period for any of them.

“I am certain we will be judged harshly on a daily basis. This has already begun before we even took up our duties but this should not be seen negatively,” he said.

“Harsh criticism from day one is an indication of the high expectations society has for our governance,” he added.

The modus operandi of the new administration is clear and demanding so as to achieve the objectives that the President himself has set and that people expect from the new government.

That is why after welcoming his Cabinet members for the first official session of the new administration Christodoulides stressed that in serving the interests of Cyprus and its citizens their personal interests should be set aside.

“Our respect for the sovereign Cypriot people, the people who elected us, who placed their hopes in us, who rightly have high expectations from our governance, will only be demonstrated through dedication to work,” he also said.

“In a short period of time we can produce work that will improve the life of citizens in all key areas,” he added.
