Police’s cybercrime unit are warning of a new scam from abroad using the Viber app.
In an announcement it said that cyber criminals were claiming to be from Cypriot banks and asking users to take steps which could lead to the theft of personal or banking data.
The announcement urged everyone to be particularly careful, not to reply to such calls and not to give out their data.
The public is also urged to report any such incidents through the unit’s website cyberalert.cy
