Police report 233 citizens and 8 establishments for violations of COVID measures

Police reported 233 citizens and 8 establishments for violations of COVID measures in a total of 13,057 checks the last 24 hours island-wide.

A police officer from the Press Office told the Cyprus News Agency that in Nicosia there were 2,041 checks and 66 citizens and 3 establishments were reported, in Limassol the Police conducted 4,030 checks and fined 97 citizens and 1 shop owner while in Larnaka 1,514 checks were carried out and the Police fined 19 citizens. In Paphos the checks were 1,289 and 19 citizens and 4 shop owners were reported, in Famagusta 1,289 checks were made and 10 citizens were fined and in Morphou in a total of 1,688 checks there were no fines.

The Traffic Department made 1,245 checks and fined 22 citizens. No report was made in a total of 136 checks by the Port and Marine Police.

Of the 8 premises reported, 4 concerned coffee shops and restaurants. Most of the citizens were fined because they did not send an SMS or they did not have the certificate required for going out, for non-use of a mask, violating the 11.00 pm curfew or excessive number of passengers in cars.
