Police raid home, find 30 cannabis plants, one arrest

Limassol police raided a home in a village in the Limassol district on Thursday morning and discovered 30 cannabis plants of between 20 and 100 cm  in one of the rooms that had been specially adapted with lighting, ventilation and watering systems.

About 90 grams of cannabis was found in the fridge freezer. A 37 year old Greek Cypriot, who is known to police for drug-related cases, was arrested.

Drug squad spokesman Stelios Sergides told the Cyprus News Agency that the suspect was initially arrested on Wednesday night for disturbing the peace while in a state of intoxication. A court order was then obtained to search a house he is renting in Prastio Kellakiou.
