Police have issued a warning after an 81 year old woman was tricked into handing over her cash.
In an announcement police said that on Tuesday afternoon, two women had gone to the elderly woman’s home in Limassol and said they belonged to an organisation charged with checking whether bank notes are forged.
They asked her to give them a number of bank notes to check which they said they would bring back.
The two women disappeared and the elderly woman lodged a complaint with police.
The two women are described as of medium build. One is blond and the other has dark hair, police added.
Police are urging the public and especially the elderly to be particularly careful and if approached by these two individuals to contact them immediately on the citizens’ help line 1460 or at the closest police station.
