Police issue twenty fines after checks on Covid-19 measures implementation

Cyprus Police fined 16 individuals and 4 establishment owners or managers for violating protective measures aiming to contain the spread of COVID-19.

A police spokesperson told CNA that in the last 24 hours ending on 06:00 local time Monday, the Force carried out 2,654 checks throughout the government-controlled areas.

A €4,000 fine was issued to a shop owner in Nicosia, because they were found to be employing individuals without a safepass.

In Nicosia, the Police carried out 192 checks reporting 9 persons and 2 shop owners, in Limassol 68 checks were carried out, reporting 2 individuals, in Larnaca 1 individual was fined following 468 checks, in Pafos 1 individual and 2 shop owners were fined after 134 checks, in Famagusta 3 person was reported following 458 checks.

Furthermore, no fines were issued following 137 checks in Morphou, 144 and 30 checks carried out by the Traffic Departments and the Marine and Port Police respectively.
