Police issue 184 fines for COVID measures violations

Police reported 182 citizens and 2 shop owners in a total of 8,988 checks the last 24 hours island – wide for violations of COVID-19 measures.

As a police spokesperson told CNA a pub in Nicosia received a fine of €500 for serving customers in closed space outdoor. In Larnaca a restaurant served indoors more than the allowed number of customers and received a fine of €1500.

The majority of the citizens were fined for not wearing a face mask and for failing to send an sms for their movements.

In Nicosia the Police carried out 1,109 checks and fined 34 citizens. In Limassol the Police conducted 2,656 checks and 93 people were reported, in Larnaka 15 people were fined in  a total of 1,272 checks and in Paphos the Police carried out 1,185 checks during which  22 citizens were fined. In Famagusta the checks were 1,345 and 11 people were fined while in Morphou 3 violations were reported in a total of 792 checks.

The Traffic Department made 585 checks and fined 4 citizens while the Marine Police carried out 44 checks with no reports. There were also no reports in the two Cyprus’ airports in Larnaka and Paphos.
