Police warned drivers on Tuesday that a number of roads are closed because of the adverse weather.
In its latest update issued mid-morning police gave the following update:
The following roads are closed because of mud and rock slides and accumulation of water on the road surface:
Paphos district: Arminou-Filousa, Kelokedara; Episkopi-Nata (Nata bridge); Ayios Yeorgios-Kidasiou; Kelokedara-Trachypedoula; Trachypedoula-Salamiou; Kelokedara-Filousa; Kelokedara-Amargetti; Salamiou-Galataria; Ayios Nicolaos-Kaminaria; Ayios Nicolaos-Pera Vasas (Tselefos bridge); Yiolou-Miliou (old road), Panagia-Cedar Valley; Kritou Marottou-Kannaviou and Akoursos-Adonis Baths.
The road near Tselefos bridge:
Limassol district:Â Gerasa -Kalo Chorio
Morphou district:Â Ayia Marina Xyliatou-Peristerona and Ayia Marina Xyliatou-Ayia Marina Xyliatou dam
Larnaca district:Â Ayios Vavatsinia-Vavatsinia
Because of rock and mudslides there are problems on the following roads:
Paphos district: Tsada-Stroumbi, Pentalia-PanagiaÂ
Morphou district: There have been rockfalls on the Evrychou-Kalopanayioti road near the exit to Kakopetria. Access to the village is from Galata or Ayios Nicolaos.
Limassol district: Platres-Troodos; Agros-Karvounas; Amiandos-Karvounas; Paramytha-Gerasa; Ayios Ioannis-Agros; Lania-Trimiklini, Saittas-Amiandos; Moniatis-Platres and Trimiklini-Pelendri.
Nicosia district: Youri-Machera-Konia
Stones and mud has also fallen on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway, near the Lymbia exit. The spot has been signposted.
Because of snowfall the following roads are open only to four wheel drive cars and those equipped with snow chains: Platres-Troodos, Karvounas-Troodos and Prodromos-Troodos.
There is thick fog in Troodos and visibility is low.
Because of weather conditions, roads are dangerous police said and urged drivers to be particularly careful, to drive slowly, keep a safe distance from other vehicles and switch on their headlights.
