Police fine 28 individuals over violations of COVID measures

Cyprus Police reported 28 individuals in the last 24 hours across the island for violating measures in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

A police spokesperson told CNA that in the last 24 hours ending on 06:00 local time, 2.703 checks were carried out across the government-controlled areas.

In Nicosia 748 checks were carried out and one individual was reported, in Limassol 286 checks and as a result 11 individuals were reported. In Larnaca the Police carried out 505 checks and reported four individuals.

In Pafos 200 checks were carried out with two individuals reported, while in Famagusta eight individuals were fined after 512 checks and in the Morphou area one citizen was fines after 252 checks. Also one citizen was fined at the Larnaca Airport.

Furthermore 156 and 46 checks were carried out by the Traffic Department and the Port and Marine Police, respectively, with no reports issued.
