Following information by citizens, two men aged 58 and 38 were found by Police to drive under the influence of alcohol.
According to the Police announcement, following a tip by a citizen, a car was stopped for check by members of the Force near the area of Rizoelia, while driving from Larnaca to Agia Napa. The 58-year-old driver from Nicosia tested positive to alcohol. In the second test he was found to be more than twice the legal limit for alcohol, with 76μg%, rather than 22μg%. He was taken to the Aradippou Police Station, where he was accused in writing and is expected to appear in Court today.
Furthermore, following another tip, the Police stopped a car at the area of Halepianes, on the Limassol-Nicosia highway. The driver, a 38-year-old resident of Nicosia, initially tested positive to alcohol and when tested again was he found to be more than twice the legal limit for alcohol, with 59μg%, rather than 22μg%. He was issued a fine and was released.
