The Famagusta District Courted remanded a 41-year-old asylum seeker from Turkey in custody for eight days, in connection with kidnapping and assault.
The alleged offences took place on the night of 12 September in Agia Napa, when the 41-year-old was reported to have forced a 47-year-old British permanent resident of Cyprus to get into his car. Then he allegedly drove the car to the apartment of a Norwegian woman, with whom the 47-year-old had been romantically involved.
The alleged assailant started beating both the man and the woman who, however, managed to call the police. Upon the arrival of a police car, the 41-year-old escaped.
Both victims were taken to the Famagusta General Hospital.
Members of the Famagusta CID investigate the case.
