The Municipality of Nicosia is proceeding with studies aiming towards the remodeling of two buildings in the historic center and turning them into student housing, Philenews reported on Wednesday.
The plan is for these student units to be available for use before the completion of support works for Faneromeni school where the architectural school of the University of Cyprus will be housed.
The Municipality’s goal is for bids for the student housing’s construction works to be announced in mid-2023. The historic Faneromeni school will be ready to house the architecture faculty in 2026.
The Archbishopric as well as private individuals have already expressed keen interest in the establishment of student housing, but the Municipality seems to have moved first in the process of adapting buildings to the standards required to serve student needs.
Insiders said private individuals are interested in taking advantage of the financial incentives that have been announced.
