As the ‘Philippos’ extreme weather system on Friday continued battering the Mediterranean island with strong winds and rain police warned of closed roads because of low level snowfall in mountainous areas.
Most roads are open only to vehicles with four-wheel drive or snow chains, police said.
Affected roads in the Nicosia district are Farmakas-Odou, Kalo Chorio-Farmakas, Palechori-Agros, Lagoudera-Saranti, Lagoudera-Polystipos, Polystipos-Alona, Platanistasa bridge, Platanistas-Fterikoudi and Askas-Palechori.
Also, the Kakopetria-Karvounas, Kakopetria-Pinewood, Pedoulas-Prodromos, Pedoulas-Kykkos and the Pedoulas-Troodos-Platres roads in Morphou district.
The same applies to all roads leading to Troodos in the Limassol district, as well as the Kalo Chorio-Agros, Agros-Palechori and Agros-Kyperounta roads.
In the Larnaca district, the road network of the villages of Odou, Farmakas and Vavatsinia is affected.
