Petrol stations see massive slump in business

Relevant News

Sales are practically at a standstill at petrol stations round the island because of the lock down, Stephanos Stephanou who chairs the Association of Petrol Station Owners told CNA on Wednesday.

The only clients are commercial vehicles in the food supply sector.

Overall, business is down by 70% since the lock down started, he added and some petrol stations might not survive.

Petrol stations are operating normally, taking the required protective measures but employing fewer staff. Most have joined the Labour Ministry’s support scheme for businesses that have seen at least a 25% drop in turnover, he added.

As regards prices, because of the drop in crude these are now down to close to €1 per litre for unleaded 95 and €1.08 for diesel.

He urged patience and compliance with the instructions so that the crisis can be overcome.
