The Syrian alleged perpetrator and his compatriot victim in Sunday night’s murder case in Agios Antonios area in Nicosia were chatting a few minutes before the fatal shooting, according to witnesses.
Both are asylum seekers and Police link the murder to differences between groups in the underworld, Philenews reported on Tuesday.
On Monday, an arrest warrant was issued for Osama Aldheis, 22, following the murder of Alsweidani Ahmad, 21, who was shot in the face as well as other body parts.
According to reports, the 21-year-old was riding in a vehicle with another person, and, at some point, unknown persons opened fire on them.
It is believed the shooter got out of a vehicle and approached the victim’s vehicle on foot.
A passenger that was in the car with Ahmad has given statements to the police along with a number of other witnesses.
