Euro-parliament’s PEGA delegation which is to visit Cyprus next month on a fact-finding mission relating to questions on the production and use of spyware has an interesting draft agenda, according to Philenews.

PEGA stands for Committee of Inquiry to Investigate the Use of Pegasus and Equivalent Surveillance Spyware.

Its draft main agenda includes a meeting with Attorney General George Savvides but also with Israeli businessman and founder of Intellexa, Tal Dilian.

Dilian has been linked to software such as Pegasus and Predator – the use of which by monitoring services in various countries has been described as arbitrary.

This is because they are not limited to the use of technologies to detect terrorism cases but, in some cases, indications are there that surveillance of citizens as well as political opponents also takes place.

In addition, PEGA has included members of the House of Representatives as well as the Minister of Commerce and that of Justice, the Commissioner for Communications and senior executives of the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority.

The planned contacts reveal the parameters of the investigation case of interest to the competent committee of the European Parliament.
