A pedestrian is in serious condition in Nicosia Hospital after he was hit by a car while trying to cross the street in Xylophagou. The driver of the vehicle abandoned the scene of the accident and is being sought by police.
Police said they were alerted to a traffic accident at around 2 am on Tuesday. Xylophagou police station officers went to the scene where they found that at around 1.30 am a driver, under unknown conditions, had hit the pedestrian and abandoned the scene.
The victim, an Indian national, was taken to Larnaca Hospital but because of the seriousness of his injuries transferred to Nicosia Hospital.
Police are appealing for information regarding the accident.
