A 62 year old man was fatally injured and his wife suffered minor injuries after they were hit by a car as they were walking in the Kalithea area of Dali at around 8.30 pm on Thursday evening.
The victim was named as Socratis Christodoulou, from Nicosia.
Police said that under conditions which are being investigated, Christodoulou and his 60 year old wife were hit by a car driven by a 70 year old man.
The couple were taken by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital where doctors pronounced Christodoulou dead.
His wife suffered minor injuries and has been hospitalised as a precaution.
The driver of the car was breathalysed with zero reading. He was arrested, questioned and released. Police inquiries continue.
