Payment of Labour Ministry’s support allowances to 167,000 beneficiaries kicks off

Payment of special allowances to 167,000 employees and self-employed by the Labour Ministry to help them weather the financial consequences of Covid-19 starts on Tuesday, the CNA reports.

On Sunday, Labour Minister Zeta Emilianidou said that about 200,000 applications had been received via the electronic portal for one of the Labour Ministry’s emergency schemes.

She said that 11,000 applications had wrong bank details and as SMS was sent by the Labour Ministry to the applicants to correct their details.

According to the latest data, 9,069 applications were submitted for the special sickness allowance, 14,348 for child care allowance and 21,593 for the self-employed allowance.

Applications for part or full suspension of business operations and for the special unemployment benefit rose to 22,528 and will cover 154,093 employees.
