Paphos: Two women arrested for possession of stolen property

Two women, both foreign nationals, were arrested in Paphos last night after police found a stash of valuables in their apartment as well as two travel bags they were allegedly trying to throw from the balcony before police gained entrance.

Police went to the apartment last night after being tipped off of stolen property and that it was or had been used to shelter two Syrians wanted in connection with a murder in Chlorakas.

The 42 year old owner was not there, but his wife and another younger woman who were refused to open and attempted to throw travel bags from the balcony, CyBC’s Paphos correspondent said.

Police forced their way into the apartment where they arrested the two women. In it they found a large quantity of valuables, such as mobile phones, cameras, sunglasses, clothes and church items as well as items from a Paphos pub.

Police are still looking for the 42 year old man.

In a second operation, Paphos police found a number of items believed to be antiquities in the house of a 47 year old man. The items will be examined by the Antiquities Department. The man has been arrested.
