A 60 year old visitor from Russia was found unconscious in the sea off Paphos at around 12 noon on Tuesday and brought to shore by lifeguards.
She was taken to hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
The exact cause of death will be determined by a post-mortem examination that will be held on July 4.
