Paphos recorded the island’s highest temperature on a very hot Sunday with 43 C as the Met Office issued a new warning that the heat wave will continue.
Earlier today the Met Office had raised its extreme high temperature warning from yellow to orange.
It has now issued a new yellow alert for tonight and tomorrow, in force until 5 pm on Monday.
“Tonight, the minimum temperature is expected to be around 26 C over the inland areas and the southern coastal areas, while tomorrow the maximum temperature is expected to be around 42 C over the inland areas and around 39 C over the southern coastal areas,” it said.
Maximum temperatures at 3 pm today were:
Nicosia: 40 C
Larnaca Airport: 39 C
Limassol: 41 C
Paphos Airport: 43 C
Frenaros: 38 C
Prodromos: 29 C
Polis Chrysochous:Â 42 C
