Paphos: Suspect in €10 pizzeria robbery arrested

Paphos police have arrested a 26 year old man suspected of robbing a pizzeria at knife point with another man and making off with €10, the Cyprus News Agency reports.

It said that the man is also under arrest for possession of pepper spray, causing real bodily harm, causing an accident and abandoning the scene of the accident on April 23.

The arrest follows a robbery of a pizzeria in Paphos. Two hooded men entered the pizzeria and demanded money from the 27 year old employee who was closing up. He told them he had no money, the assaulted him, one of them threatened the employee with a knife and the other used pepper spray on his face.

They managed to take a small pouch from around his waist in his which he had €10, keys and documents.

As they fled by car they collided with a moped driven by an employee who was returning to the restaurant. They abandoned the scene of the accident and it later emerged the number plates on the car were stolen.

The moped driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital as was the employee at the restaurant.  Both received first aid and were discharged. Police are continuing to look for the second man.
