Paphos traffic police carrying out checks on the district’s secondary road network have booked 1651 drivers in the period of October 1 to 23.
According to a police announcement, the following offences were reported: speeding — 704; using a mobile phone while driving — 123 and not wearing a seat belt or helmet — 239.
As regards the alco-tests, it said that one out of 10 drivers was over the limit as of the 798 checks, 81 drivers were above permissible alcohol levels.
One driver was caught driving under the influence of drugs while 503 drivers were booked for other traffic offences.
