The Paphos Tourism Board is ready to take another step towards the sustainable and responsible tourism development of the region, especially after Paphos was included in the European project DESTI-SMART.
The DESTI-SMART programme aspires to improve the transport and tourism policies of EU destinations, by integrating strategies for sustainable mobility, accessibility and responsible travel with efficient and sustainable tourism development.
It also seeks to transition to a low-carbon economy, through efficiency, resilience, multimodality, novel low-carbon transport systems, cycling and walking.
Ten bodies and agencies from nine different countries (United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Greece among other) participate in DESTI-SMART.
The programme’s total budget is €1.9 million, while the amount to be allocated at the Paphos Tourism Board is €180,000.
