Paphos hospital A&E shuts as nurse among positive cases

Relevant News

The Paphos hospital A&E department will remain closed on Wednesday as a nurse working there was among the 32 positive cases announced on Tuesday, according to CNA.

Temporary head of the hospital Dr Iosif Moutiris said he is in communication with Okypy and the Ministry of Health for further handling of the matter.

Tracing of the nurse’s contacts as per protocol is also underway.

He said that the A&E department will remain closed temporarily while disinfection of the premises will also take place.

Meanwhile the premises of the new short-term hospitalisation centre at Paphos hospital are being moved to the mental health department for staff safety reasons and to better care for suspect cases of Covid-19.

The new centre is staffed by specialised and trainee doctors.

Moutiris also said that to decongest and keep patients safe, patients from the dialysis unit at Paphos hospital will be taken to private clinics.
