Paphos residents have been cheered by the results of coronavirus testing among the community which showed only four positive cases from a total sample of 707, philenews reports.
After an initial disproportionately high number of Covid-19 cases linked to the Paphos Hospital cluster, the Health Ministry and Paphos Municipality made arrangements for wider, targeted testing to determine the extent of contagion in the community.
The first 317 samples turned up three positive cases while there has only been one additional positive cases from the remaining samples, philenews said.
Paphos Mayor Phedon Phedonos spoke of an ‘enormously positive message’ as there had been concern of wider infection.
But he warned against complacency and said strict adherence to the rules will continue.
